Evaluation kits are available with components such as contacts, plug, receptacle, and heat shrink material to support prototype designs. The boot is semi-flexible and heat-shrinkable with a moldable adhesive inner lining. Step 1, place the heat shrink boot over the cable. Step 2, strip the cable jacket. Refer to the UTL catalog or https://usa.souriau.com/en-en website for dimensional details. Step 3, strip the individual wires. Step 4, crimp the contacts. Step 5, place the contacts in the cavities and check the retention by slightly pulling the cable. Step 6, clean the connector surface and the cable jacket with isopropyl alcohol. It is advised to rub the jacket with sandpaper and clean the jacket before shrinking the boot. Step 7, position the boot over the rear threads. Step 8, heat the boot with a heat gun. Minimum shrink temperature is 80°C. Minimum full recovery temperature is 110°C. Make sure to apply the heat evenly around the boot. Start by applying the heat from the rear of the connector. Do not apply excessive heat or it will damage the connector and/or boot. Step 9, allow the boot to cool. Step 10, check for good retention and the boot glue has set.
