Kingston supports the lifetime estimate reporting in the Extended Card Specific Data register as defined in the JEDEC eMMC specification. These fields are located at byte 268 and 269. Life is reported at increments of 10%. For example, a device with an endurance of 3,000 program-erases would increment the lifetime estimate field from 1 to 2, when the average block erase count exceeds 300 erases. This represents the first 10% of the device life. The type A field is used to report the age of the NAND flash blocks that are configured in the native mode. These are either TLC or MLC configured blocks. The type B field is used to report the age of the blocks that are configured in pseudo SLC mode.
