At present, the mainstream EOS test standard in the industry is IEC61000-4-5, also known as Surge test. Its internal model is mainly to charge a 5 µF capacitor and then discharge it through a 2 Ω resistor. The output voltage waveform will be a transient with a rise time of 1.2 µs and a duration of 50 µs. Generally, it is often said that the EOS current waveform is an 8/20 µs waveform with a rise time of 8 µs and a duration of 20 µs. Each region has its own favorite EOS/Surge test machine. For example, American manufacturers tend to use Thermo equipment, and the output voltage can be as high as 6 kV. Korean manufacturers tend to use KAST equipment with an output voltage of 5 V ~ 200 V. Chinese manufacturers tend to use Prima equipment with an output voltage of up to 600 V.
