Stepp Works
A simple Stepping Motor System consists of four basic elements. First, the Host Microcontroller generates high level software commands. Second, the Stepper Motor Controller generates the step pulses and control signals for the driver based on the commands from the Microcontroller. Third, the High Current Driver converts the controller signals into the power necessary to energize the motor windings. Last, the Stepper Motor is an electromagnetic device that converts digital pulses into mechanical shaft rotation. The electrical compatibility between the motor and the driver are the most critical factors in a stepper motor system design. Some key parameters to consider during component selection are inductance, motor stiffness, and motor heat.
