Image of Particle Industries' Boron LTE Development KitParticle’s Boron LTE is a powerful cellular-enabled development kit that can act as either a standalone endpoint or gateway for Particle Mesh networks. It is based on the Nordic nRF52840 and has built-in battery charging circuitry, so it is easy to connect a Li-Po and deploy a local network in minutes. The Boron is great for connecting projects to the Particle device cloud or as a gateway to connect an entire group of local endpoints. It is like the Photon with more features including Bluetooth® and Mesh networking.

BLE and NFC features are now available on the Boron LTE development kit. With wiring APIs for both BLE and NFC, users can create Particle applications that interact with mobile devices, integrate with off-the-shelf BLE sensors and peripherals, and other Particle BLE accessories. Plus, BLE and NFC complement one another and offer low-power, low-latency communication.

The kit includes the Boron LTE development board, a mini breadboard, a 2.4 GHz flex antenna, a USB cable, and a starter project that includes two resistors (220 ohm), one red LED, and one photodiode. Equipped with the Nordic nRF52840 and Espressif ESP32 processors, the Boron has built-in battery charging circuitry, which makes it easier to connect a Li-Po battery and 20 mixed-signal GPIOs to interface with sensors, actuators, and other electronics.

All Particle cellular hardware can be set up in minutes using Particle’s mobile and browser-based setup tools. Every device comes pre-installed with device OS, Particle's powerful embedded operating system. Particle hardware is built to scale, so users can seamlessly transition from prototype to a global deployment with device cloud-hosted infrastructure.
