Summary

Demonstration circuit 2641A is a single output synchronous buck converter featuring the LTC7801EUFD in the 24-lead QFN package. The input voltage range is from 16V to 100V and the output is 12V/10A. The DC2641A is configured with a sense resistor for overcurrent protection. Inductor DCR current sensing is optional. The board has a lot of features including an optional onboard NMOS LDO for DRVCC, a switch-mode power supply for EXTVCC, jumper selectable 100% duty cycle operation in dropout, a mode selector pin that allows the converter to run in CCM, pulse-skip, adjustable burst clamp or default Burst Mode® operation, a PGOOD output voltage monitor and PLLIN for PolyPhase® operation.

The LTC®7801 is a high performance step-down switching regulator DC/DC controller that drives an all N-channel synchronous power MOSFET stage that can operate from input voltages up to 140V. Constant frequency current mode architecture allows a phase-lockable frequency of up to 850kHz. The low 40µA no-load quiescent current extends operating run time in battery-powered systems. OPTI-LOOP® compensation allows the transient response to be optimized over a wide range of output capacitance and ESR values. The LTC7801 features a precision 0.8V reference and power good output indicator. The output voltage can be programmed between 0.8V to 60V using external resistors
