Digi-Key Electronics offers one of the best health insurance plans available from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. The employee's share of the cost for a family policy is $37 biweekly. Single coverage is free of charge to the employee. In-network services include no deductibles; $10 office co-pays; and an annual eye exam. A formulary drug prescription plan provides prescriptions to plan participants for a small co-pay of $10 for generic or $20 for brand name prescription drugs. Plan enrollment date is 30 days following the employee start date and the first of the month following that period. Example: Employee starts May 15 and coverage becomes effective on July 1.
Digi-Key offers time off benefits for illness, or when you need time away from work to do what you enjoy doing. 48 hours of unpaid personal time are provided annually, including the first year. 40 hours of paid vacation and 40 hours of unpaid vacation is provided in the first year. 80 hours of paid vacation time is provided after 1 year of service. 120 hours of paid vacation time is provided after 10 years of service. 160 hours of paid vacation time is provided after 20 years of service.
401(k) Plan and Profit Sharing
Look forward to a great retirement by participating in the Digi-Key retirement plan. Our plan features dollar-for-dollar employee contribution match up to 3% from Digi-Key to your 401(k) account. Digi-Key Electronics may also provide a profit sharing contribution directly into your retirement account. Profit sharing utilizes the 401(k) plan's tax-deferred advantages for a great employee benefit!
Digi-Key Electronics provides voluntary coverage through Delta Dental. This plan features low deductibles of $25 per person / $75 per family (no employee cost or deductible for diagnostics and cleanings). The employee’s cost in the form of biweekly payroll deductions is $5 biweekly (employee-only coverage) or $15 biweekly (family coverage). Plan enrollment date is 30 days following the hire date and the first of the month following that period. Example: Employee starts May 15 and coverage becomes effective on July 1.
Vision Material Plan
Digi-Key Electronics provides voluntary coverage through Superior Vision. This plan features low co-pays and provides either an annual frames/lenses benefit or a contact lenses benefit. The employee’s cost is $2.61 biweekly (employee-only coverage) or $6.98 biweekly (family coverage). Plan enrollment date is 30 days following the start date and the first of the month following that period. Example: Employee starts May 15 and coverage becomes effective on July 1.
Digi-Key offers $850 in relocation assistance to any newly-hired full-time employee who resides outside of a 60-mile radius of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and relocates to an address within a 60-mile radius of Thief River Falls in conjunction with his or her new employment at Digi-Key.
Digi-Key believes in providing our employees with a great learning environment and resources to continue to grow in their personal and professional development. Life and Long Term Disability Insurance
Life and Long Term Disability insurances benefit your family in times of need by providing income when you cannot. Full time Digi-Key employees are covered by a company-paid life insurance policy that provides benefits equal to three times the employee's annual earnings. If you are unable to work for an extended period of time, eligible employees may receive benefits equaling up to two thirds of their covered earnings from Long Term Disability insurance.
Each year, Digi-Key generally recognizes six paid holidays including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Flexible Spending Account
Our flexible spending accounts enable participants to pay for unreimbursed medical and dental expenses, as well as dependent care expenses out of pre-tax funds.
Online Payroll/Direct Deposit
Automatic direct deposit is available for all employees’ payroll disbursements. Also, Digi-Key provides paperless online payroll services through our vendor, ADP.
Digi-Key employees may purchase Digi-Key components and supplies at 10% above Digi-Key’s cost.

Giving Back to the Community
Digi-Key employees are proud to give back by helping community organizations such as Adopt-A-River and Adopt-A-Highway. Employees in our Purchasing and IT departments have led by example by starting this initiative and encouraging others to join in the effort to keep our local rivers and highways clean.
Thief River Falls-based employees are encouraged to volunteer through the Digi-Key Cares program. The program provides employees and business partners with volunteering opportunities at local charities, so all involved can directly experience the joy that comes from helping friends and neighbors.
In June 2017, a group of 20 volunteers from Digi-Key’s Purchasing department completed their first Adopt-A-River clean-up. They cleaned multiple stretches of river shoreline within the city limits for two hours, removing approximately 400 pounds of trash from Red Lake River and Thief River. By participating in Adopt-A-River, this group has committed to cleaning the river twice a year for the next two years.
The Digi-Key IT department wanted to make a positive impact by giving back to the community by volunteering their time and doing their part to help keep the environment clean. In May of 2016, they held their first Adopt-A-Highway roadside cleaning event. They adopted a two-mile stretch of highway near Thief River Falls along Highway 59 South, and they clean this area twice every year.

Enjoy the beautifully maintained 18-hole golf course along the river, blaze the trails on a snowmobile, or put up your fish house and fish your day away. Our local Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations do a wonderful job of hosting a variety of community events. One day you could be watching a movie in the park and the next attending a fundraising gala. Check out the Home and Sport Show or sign up for a 5K race. In the summer the city hosts RiverFest, featuring local and national musicians, craft & food vendors, kayak & duck races, children’s games, art & theater, and more. In the winter you can catch a local hockey game, skating show or jump on a snowmobile for some outdoor fun. There’s always an interesting event going on in Thief River Falls.
There’s a lot to do for fun in the area. If you feel like playing, there’s a mini-golf and go kart course. History buffs will love Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village. How about ‘Glow and Bowl’ at the local bowling alley? Tempt your taste buds at one of Thief River Falls’ fine eateries; and don’t forget the waterpark just outside of town!
