The ARM University Program Education Kits on SoC Design are self-contained packages that take you through a full ARM-based SoC design flow from specification to implementation and testing. Targeted at FPGAs and using industry-standard software tools, the kits below cover both introductory and advanced SoC design aspects.

Cortex®-M0 DesignStart based SoC

Basic SoC Design: Using FPGAs as prototyping platforms, this kit takes students through a typical SoC design process from creating high-level functional specifications to design, implementation and testing on real FPGA hardware using standard hardware description and software programming languages. The resulting SoC is programmed using the industry standard Keil MDK-ARM software. Central to this kit is the synthesizable DesignStart M0 core from ARM, around which a full set of teaching materials including PowerPoint slides, lab manuals with solutions to professors, and quizzes with answers have been developed. These can be used to teach a typical 10-14 week course. Academics who want to adopt the kit in their teaching can request a sample donation from the ARM University Program website.

Advanced SoC Design: Using FPGAs as prototyping platforms, this kit teaches students how to develop a complex ARM-based SoC system which comprises powerful Cortex-A processors and peripheral hardware. The kit uses state-of-the-art software tools to build the SoC, configure/program it and test it in real platform FPGA hardware. The resulting SoC is programmed using the industry standard ARM DS-5 tool. A full set of teaching materials including PowerPoint slides, lab manuals with solutions to professors, and quizzes with answers has been developed for this kit by the ARM University Program.
