The MIC24045 Evaluation Board is designed to serve all of the devices that make up Microchip’s MIC2404x family of parts. As a result, only a subset of its features is needed for the MIC24045 evaluation. Specific for the evaluation of the MIC24045 device, the VIN supply ranges from 4.5 V to 19 V and output voltage from 0.64 V to 5.25 V in 5 mV, 10 mV, 30 mV and 50 mV steps at 5 A. Additionally, an on-board load transient generator circuit and connections for loop gain measurements are provided. A connector (J10) matching the MCP2221 Breakout Module I2C interface is provided for board compatibility with I2C.

This evaluation board is designed to provide an easy and flexible platform when evaluating the performance of the MCP6N16, a Zero-Drift instrumentation amplifier designed for low-voltage operation featuring rail-to-rail input and output performance. The evaluation board is populated with the MCP6N16-100, which is optimized for gains of 100 V/V or higher. If one of the other gain option models is desired (e.g. MCP6N16-001 for gain of ≥1 V /V, or the MCP6N16-010 for gain of ≥10 V/V), exchanging the DUT and adjusting the gain setting resistors can easily be accomplished with standard soldering tools.

The fully assembled evaluation board includes differential input filtering, two jumper selectable gain settings and output filtering, in addition to an external voltage reference circuit to allow for an adjustable output common-mode level shifting.

The MCP6V01 Thermocouple Auto-Zeroed Reference Design demonstrates how to use a difference amplifier system to measure electromotive force voltage at the cold junction of thermocouple in order to accurately measure temperature at the hot junction. This can be done by using the MCP6V01 auto-zeroed op amp because of its ultra-low offset voltage and high common mode rejection ratio.

The MCP3551 Delta-Sigma ADC Demo Board is designed to demonstrate Microchip Technology’s MCP3551 22-bit Delta-Sigma Analog-to-Digital (ADC) Converter performance using DataView™ software installed on a PC. The demo board can be used with MPLAB® ICD2, PICkit™ 1 Flash Starter Kit, or PICkit™ 2 for developing demonstration/evaluation firmware. Optionally, a second installed MCP3551 can be used with and optional stimulus board (sold separately). 

The board is designed to evaluate the MCP3551 with minimum Printed Circuit Board (PCB) noise. The PCB layout practices low-noise design to reduce the signal noise as much as possible in order to demonstrate the 22-bit performance of the MCP3551.

The RTD Reference Design demonstrates how to instrument Resistive Temperature Detector (RTD) and accurately measure temperature. This solution uses the MCP3551 22-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) to measure voltage across the RTD. The ADCand the RTD are referenced using an onboard reference voltage and the ADC inputs are directly connected to the RTD terminals. This provides a ratio metric temperature measurement. The solution uses a current limiting resistor to bias the RTD. It providesa reliable and accurate RTD instrumentation without the need for extensive circuit compensation and calibration routines.

In addition, this reference design includes a silicon temperature sensor, MCP9804. This sensor is used for comparison only; it is not needed to instrument an RTD. The MCP3551 and MCP9804 outputs are read using a USB PIC® MCU. This controller is also connected to a PC using a USB interface. The Thermal Management software is used to plot the RTD temperature data in strip chart format.

The MCP9902 Temp Sensor Evaluation Board provides the means to demonstrate all of the MCP9902 features, and allows a user to view and modify registers. A user may plot the temperature of the two temperature channels and set alert temperatures associated with those channels. LEDs indicating status information and test points are included to enable system voltages monitoring, using a voltmeter or an oscilloscope. The board requires only one universal serial bus (USB) connection to power the board. The USB-to-SMBus bridge regulates the +5 V USB power to +3.3 V used by the MCP9902 and other evaluation board circuitry.

The MCP9600 Evaluation Board is used to digitize the Thermocouple EMF voltage to degree Celsius with +/-1°C accuracy. Users can easily evaluate the all device features using a Type K thermocouple. The device also supports Types J, T, N, E, B, S and R. Each of these types is evaluated by replacing the Type K Thermocouple connector with the corresponding connectors (not included).

In addition, evaluation board connects to PC via USB interface. Temperature can be data-logged using Microchip Thermal Management Software Graphical User Interface (GUI).

The MIC4609 motor driver evaluation board demonstrates the capabilities of Microchip’s MIC4609 High Voltage, 3-Phase motor gate driver. The evaluation board contains the MIC4609 3-Phase driver, (6) IGBTs configured as a 3-Phase bridge, an overcurrent protection circuit and current/voltage sensing that can be fed back to an external controller for closed loop control of a motor.
