HMS Industrial Networks' PCIe interfaces easily connect a PC to a CAN network through a PCIe or PCIe Mini connection. These interfaces are based on a modern and highly modular concept with a variety of options depending on application requirements for space, network performance, and the number of CAN ports. They are compatible with CANopen and J1939 networks as well.
Each of these PCIe CAN interfaces have galvanic isolation and support one or two CAN interfaces. They are available in either PCIe or PCIe Mini form factor for applications with small space requirements.
Depending on user performance and budget requirements, the PCIe cards come as either passive CAN interfaces or active CAN interfaces. Passive CAN interfaces, such as the CAN-IB100/PCIe and CAN-IB120/PCIe Mini, do not have a microprocessor on board which makes the device more economical. Active CAN interfaces, such as the CAN-IB200/PCIe, have a 32-bit microcontroller on board to improve application performance.
The IXXAT PCIe CAN interfaces include software drivers for Windows, Linux, VxWorks, QNX, INtime, RTX, and Socket CAN. These drivers are easy to use and common to all IXXAT CAN interfaces. With the Windows driver comes a simple CAN bus monitor software for quick CAN bus diagnostics. There is also a free LabVIEW API available for those working with National Instruments' LabVIEW software.
