Image of Hillcrest Labs' BNO080 IMU CEVA Hillcrest Labs BNO08x is a SiP integrates a triaxial accelerometer, triaxial gyroscope, magnetometer, and a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M0+ microcontroller running Hillcrest Labs' SH-2 firmware. The SH-2 includes the MotionEngine™ software, which provides sophisticated signal processing algorithms to process sensor data and provide precise real-time 3D orientation, heading, calibrated acceleration, and calibrated angular velocity, as well as more advanced contextual outputs. The BNO08x is integrated into a single 28-pin LGA 3.8 mm x 5.2 mm x 1.1 mm package. It is compatible with Android and provides a turn-key sensor hub solution, eliminating the complexity and investment associated with a discrete design.

Due to a unique partnership with Bosch, Hillcrest Labs' is able to base the BNO080/BNO085 on a Bosch sensor (BMF055) running Hillcrest Labs proprietary SH-2 software. The Bosch equivalent is the BNO055. Though both can be used in inertial sensing applications, choose the BNO085 for applications that demand high dynamic accuracy, low latency, and context/event classification. For embedded applications, the BNO080/BNO085 also includes RTOS support.

The BNO080 development kit is a demonstration and evaluation platform for the BNO080 and BNO085. The development kit is designed as a 'shield' that can connect to open prototyping platforms such as the STM32 Nucleo (included with the kit). The kit allows the user to build applications that incorporate the BNO080/BNO085's superior motion processing and power management capabilities. Full documentation including schematics and software examples for the two target platforms are included.
