THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA - February 15, 2016
Global electronic components distributor Digi-Key Electronics, the industry leader in electronic component selection, availability and delivery, today announced the extension of its partnership with the ARM University Program to distribute ARM Education Kit hardware components to higher educational institutions. The products will be on display at Embedded World 2016 February 23-25 in Nuremburg, Germany.
Digi-Key will provide Education Kit hardware that support design courses covering Embedded Systems, System-on-a-Chip (SoC) development and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. The full education kits contain ARM-based hardware and software components as well as teaching and training materials from the ARM University Program.
"The ARM University Program enables electronics and computer engineering courses all around the world and last year tens of thousands of students took modules based on our technology," said Khaled Benkrid, Director, Education and Research, ARM. "The collaboration with Digi-Key will provide access to high quality ARM-based hardware, software and teaching tools to support an even greater number of academics, students and engineers. Together, we will be equipping a new wave of developers with the knowledge and skills that will underpin their professional careers."
The Program includes technologies provided by key Digi-Key suppliers such as STMicroelectronics, NXP, Cypress, and Nordic Semiconductor.
"Collaborating with the ARM University Program and Digi-Key allows the Cypress University Alliance to support an even greater number of engineering students," said Patrick Kane, Director of the Cypress University Alliance. "With Cypress’s ARM-based PSoC programmable system-on-chip and FM4 MCU development kits, face-to-face workshops, and inclusion in ARM’s Education Kit series, CUA is providing this new generation of engineers with a broad range of tools to develop and refine their design skills."
More information on the CUA program is available at www.cypress.com/cua.
The ARM University Program is supporting these hardware packages with professional software licenses from ARM, and complete teaching materials ready to be deployed in classes. These include lecture note slides, demonstration codes, lab manuals, and projects with solutions in source.
"We are pleased to be able to expand these technology-specific ARM Education Kit offerings to our academic customers. As these courses are adopted by universities worldwide, we believe students will be better prepared to face the design challenges of the future," said Bob Brown, Director of Academic Business Development at Digi-Key. "Digi-Key’s university customers will benefit from the use of leading-edge technology by our suppliers that incorporate ARM Cortex®-M and Cortex-A processors. Digi-Key’s partnership with the ARM University Program will make it easier for students and faculty to get the materials they need for hands-on learning experiences."
The five kits available today are stocking SKU’s from Digi-Key and are often shipped on the same day of purchase. For more information, please visit Digi-Key’s booth at Embedded World located in Hall 4A, Stand 631, along with ARM University Program’s booth in Hall 5, Stand 5338.
