Significant project current reductions can be achieved by putting a uC (microcontroller) to sleep when it is idle. In this video, Shawn Hymel continues the tutorial on the LoRa project with respect to battery life by explaining how to toggle uC register bits to turn off unused features and use a watchdog timer to put the entire uC to sleep during programmed delay times. Shawn uses the output from a current sense amplifier and the Diligent Analog Discovery 2 scope function to show reductions in the current values.
