Position Overview

The Network Technician is responsible for basic network infrastructure setup and ongoing support. 


Must be able to…

  • Complete work with minimal support; needs assistance from other Network Administrators to complete more complex work
  • Provide support for simple issues
  • Knowledge of basic network protocols
  • Establish physical network infrastructure amongst the systems as per the guidance and design specification given by the Network Manager or network administrators 
  • Troubleshoot network and peripheral issues and other simple network connectivity problems 
  • Maintain network cabling inventory and ensure adequate supplies
  • Support help desk personnel in the dealing with end user issues
  • Coordinate with other entities for larger cabling projects

    Other typical tasks may also include…

    • Maintain UPS systems
    • Maintain network cabling documentation

      Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

      Minimum/Essential Qualifications: 

      • College graduate or beginning level technician experience
      • Certified as a Power Limited Technician
      • Continually striving to gather current knowledge and information relevant to business needs in order to achieve results 
      • Able to work independently or collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude
      • Must demonstrate the following behavioral competencies: attention to detail, communication, continuous learning, integrity, professionalism, teamwork and positive attitude
      • Generally spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
      • Generally spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
      • Ability to operate computer workstation hardware and software

        Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria: 

        • Previous experience as a cable installer
