TDK’s EPCOS arm has created a line of high current chokes designed specifically to solve core material saturation problems. By winding two coils with an equal number of turns on the core, the main culprit for core material saturation is reduced. These coils are then connected so that the magnetic flux induced by the upper coil is then compensated by the lower coil. These high current chokes feature low leakage inductance of 1% and high voltage ratings of 600 or 1,000 volts. Utilizing a glueless design, these are capable of withstanding high temperatures up to 155 degrees Celsius and are perfect for household appliances, solar converters, and switch mode power supplies.
