GPS (Global Positioning System) is a satellite-based location tracking system based on timed transmissions being decoded at the receiving device. It is often used in location or tracking systems, but can also be used as a very accurate reference clock or basis for determining speed and acceleration. Utilized with other modern radio technologies, GPS can provide its reference information into any network of the user's choice (Cellular, WLAN, etc.)
