Stackpole Electronics' RNCF Series Precision Nichrome Thin Film Chip Resistors


Stackpole Electronics' RNCF series of thin film chip resistors utilize a superior grade of Nichrome metal film to achieve tight tolerances and low TCRs. In the past, Nichrome thin film elements were known for their outstanding low noise and high stability performance, but were limited to tolerances of 0.1% and greater as well as TCRs of 25 ppm and greater. Process and material improvements now allow the RNCF series to achieve tolerances as low as 0.01% and TCRs as low as 5ppm. This type of outstanding precision can make the RNCF series a cost effective option for replacing more expensive technologies such as tantalum nitride or metal foil. Overview

The RNCF series is available from 0201 to 2512 chip sizes. Resistance value ranges vary with size, TCR, and tolerance and range from 1Ω up to 3MΩ. Sizes from 0402 and up have a significant value range available in 0.01% tolerance and 5 ppm TCR. They offer stable performance under a wide variety of electrical and environmental conditions. E96 and E24 resistance values are standard; however E192 values are available as a built-to-order option and will be unmarked.

The RNCF series is a good choice for many types of precision applications such as metering, monitoring, test equipment, precision controls, instrumentation, avionics, and medical applications. They are also a good fit for high speed communications equipment as well as audio applications that require a low noise resistor.
