NXP Semiconductors LPC1300 Series Cortex-M3 MCUs

NXP Semiconductors brings a new level of power performance to the ARM architecture with the LPC1300 series, one of the industry’s lowest-power Cortex-M3 MCUs. These new MCUs consume approximately 200μA/MHz, bringing low-power benefits to a wide range of 16/32-bit applications.

Built around a Cortex-M3 Rev2 processor core, the LPC1300 is equipped with up to 32kB of flash and up to 8kB of SRAM, uses a single 3.3V power supply (for operation between 1.8V and 3.6V), and is available in LQFP48 and HVQFN 33 packages.

The LPC1300 series is pin-to-pin compatible with the LPC1100 series, NXP’s new family of Cortex-M0 MCUs, so it gives designers a straightforward migration path to the even lower-power features of the Cortex-M0 architecture.

Also, in keeping with NXP’s existing line of more than 50 USB equipped ARM MCUs, the LPC134x offers support for USB full-speed operation. HID and mass storage USB driver software is included in a dedicated on-chip ROM, maximizing the amount of Flash memory available for user code.


LPC1313-Stick

Discover the performance of the LPC1313 CortexM3™ core with the LPC1313-Stick. The LPC-Stick is a small modular evaluation kit with optional extension boards. The LPC-Stick package provides target hardware with the relative microcontroller from NXP, user pins and LEDs for applications use. Combined with the proven USB debugger device connection and the non-limited HiTOP development tools, the LPC-Stick allows full access to all chip features, debugging and programming.

To provide access to the most external capabilities of the LPC chip, the stick allows for the connection to prototype extension boards over an 80-pin extension connector. The toolset does not require any power supply or cables and the demo application can be run after the tools are installed. This system allows users to become familiar with the demo application and the graphical user interface (GUI). Debugging and user communication can be done at the same time via USB.
