EU RoHS

Adopted by the EU on June 13, 2000, RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) is a European Union initiative to ban * six hazardous materials including lead and mercury from electronic products by July 1, 2006.

* Cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)), polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), as well as lead (Pb)

Products sold in the EU after July 2006 must contain less than a maximum concentration value of 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials for lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). However, 0.01% by weight in homogeneous materials for cadmium shall be tolerated.
