Validity of PFI for Fuel Efficiency in Generators

Hi Guys,

So just a quick question, has anyone ever used an Automatic PFI panel for their generator? Does it really reduce fuel consumption, and if yes, how?

Thanks in advance!

Validity of PFI for Fuel Efficiency in Generators

Hi there, although I've never used a PFI before, the theory behind it would be on how close your power factor is to unity prior to installing the PFI. Power Factor correction would reduce current flow resulting in lower IR losses, in turn increasing efficiency. So if without your PFI you IR losses, then you wouldn't be saving much. But if your power factor is nowhere near unity and your IR losses are high, then yes, using a PFI for efficiency will result in savings in fuel consumption.
