Hi,
I am looking for a "stand alone" optical smoke chamber - there are plenty of smoke detector ICs or fully equipped smoke sensor modules with a relay output, but I can't find a smoke chambers anywhere!?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Roman
I'd suggest dissecting some smoke detectors to see what's inside. I suspect that the smoke sensing area will be integrated into the molded housing and is not a seperate component, which would make it hard to source.
If you're mass marketing this product you may be best served by molding/machining your own chamber, or having it built into your housing.
am same intrested to do the same thing so please guide me about that.i m intrested for manufaturing in large scale smoke detector.i need technology, chamber etc or row metarial......please help...........if u require technical specification then mail me on my mail id
this website is not much comfertable so please communicate with me on my mail id. mailanilrawat4429@yahoo.co.in.
I'm also looking for the same thing. We are trying to build a remote air quality monitor system and one of the levels being measured is smoke. I was looking at your smoke sensors but it needs a smoke chamber connected to it. I was hoping if you can direct me where I can find the smoke chamber.
Thanks

Surely you want to characterize your device over the types of smoke which may come (per NFPCs) and/or be characterized by the sensors (IR haze over wavelength, etc.) and generate those particular smoke standards? (If it sticks to the lens, it wasn't optical grade smoke, right?) It used to be that field agents would be told to lay in a hot plate, some xylene, a candle and 2 ABC extinguishers, but you haven't said what size you need to test to (or whether borrowing a doublewide trailer from a dealer or XpedX isn't the trivial case,) or what Sandia Labs IP you're implementing that they didn't also offer test ignitors and smoke loads (or the related IP) for.
