Optical smoke chamber

Hi,

 

I am looking for a "stand alone" optical smoke chamber - there are plenty of smoke detector ICs or fully equipped smoke sensor modules with a relay output, but I can't find a smoke chambers anywhere!?

 

Any ideas?

    Roman,

    What are you trying to do with the chamber?  Are you just wanting to build a smoke detector yourself?  Or trying to analyze the smoke concentration?  Are you wanting just the mechanical chamber or complete with optics and/or electronics?

      Hi Metman,

       

      We are developing a sensor module with different sensors in one housing, including the smoke detector. We also need the optics and electronics, but this is much easier to find/get than the (mechanical) smoke chamber itself...

        What's your budget/target price?  I know of some OEM optical engines, but they're on the order of a few hundred dollars and up and are used more for particulate concentration monitoring.

         

        Are you pulling flow through the unit, or just sampling ambient air as it drifts by?

          That's not our target price, the components/smoke chamber should be mass market compatible... The smoke detector should only detect smoke in the air, along with other sensors on the module (temperature, luminance, humidity etc.)

            I'd suggest dissecting some smoke detectors to see what's inside.  I suspect that the smoke sensing area will be integrated into the molded housing and is not a seperate component, which would make it hard to source. 

             

            If you're mass marketing this product you may be best served by molding/machining your own chamber, or  having it built into your housing.

              am same intrested to do the same thing so please guide me about  that.i m intrested  for manufaturing in large scale smoke detector.i need technology,chamber etc or row metarial......please help...........if u require technical specification then mail me on my mail id

              I'm also looking for the same thing.  We are trying to build a remote air quality monitor system and one of the levels being measured is smoke.  I was looking at your smoke sensors but it needs a smoke chamber connected to it.  I was hoping if you can direct me where I can find the smoke chamber.
