Which ferrite core inductor coil is adequate for an EMF sensor?

Hello, I am trying to make a microcontroller-based tool for detecting electric fields, magnetic fields as well as electromagnetic frequencies from household appliances.

Although I am familiar with the very basics of electronics, I am unsure as to which inductor coil would be best suited for my application.

My readings and duscussions suggest a 1mH coil with a ferrite core, and I am assuming it needs to be unshielded.

Are there anyother specs I need to know about?
