Is BMP 180 suitable for air flow measurement over a wing?

Hi everyone,

I just bought some BMP180 miniature MEMS based pressure sensors. Can these sensors be used to measure pressure over a wing in a wind tunnel? The velocity of airflow maybe around 500ft/sec.  Can these sensors sustain air flow over it or are they custom-made for static measurements?

    sirohilab,

While I am not an expert on this application, I don't believe this question can be definitively answered here as there is a host of mechanical integration questions that could have a great effect on a dynamic fluid measuring system.  As far I can tell, this part is targeted at slow speed applications.  The datasheet does not give any hint of being targeted at anything faster than vertical velocity indication and the rest of the applications pretty much change over the course large fractions of a second or slower.  You'll likely be looking at a <200Hz sampling rate in the lowest accuracy mode.  I'm sorry I can't be of more assistance.  I'd be skeptical of this working in such a design, but like a said, I'm no expert and this is a very specific application so please take that with a grain of salt.
