Simple 5V DC power Supply

Hello Everyone!

I decided to try and remake an old very basic project that didn't go se well before. It's a 5V DC power supply with a 100Vpp AC input, i would like to add a voltage regulator IC, which i didn't have before, was just using a simple diode. And I would like to add an indicator led this time to show if it's on or off. The rest of the circuit is just a transformer, full-wave rectifier. Can anyone point me to some usefull resources, I wanna make it right this time.

What is the source of your 100 V P-P AC and what frequency is it?

You might want to make the output voltage variable. This isn't much call for 5 volts these days, except for powering USB devices, with digital logic voltages having dropped to 3.3 volts and lower.
