Automated Water Flow Control

Good Day!

I'm trying to design a water flow controller that uses predetermined weight as an indicator for flow control. Like if a drum were to be filled only to a certain point, the water would flow until it reaches a defined weight then it would stop.

Anyone has any ideas on available schematics for such a device?

Thanks!

For starters, do you plan on making the pressure pads yourself or do you intend to buy them? simple pressure pads are not very accurate but if your measuring fixed weights with room for error then you can make rudimentary ones. There are a lot of DIYs on

If you plan on buying them i found

they have a lot of choices for a plethora of functions.

There are many ways to tackle your project. Here's one that's pretty simple. The drum of water sets on a platform supported by for springs. As water flows into the drum the platform lowers and an optical sensor senses when the platform has reached it. If this interests you we can see what Digikey has for suitable sensors.
