I spoke with one of our Technical Support Specialist to gather some capacitor information for you. Please find it below:

Basically on capacitors some of the information which is most important would be:

Package Type: Thru Hole (where the leads are on the device) or surface mount (where the leads are usually soldered to the top side of the board)

Value: The value of the capacitor in uF (microfarad) or pF(picofarad).

Voltage Rating: This would be the DC voltage rating of the capacitor. It is acceptable to choose a higher value voltage rating if need be.

Temperature Rating: Heat is usually the cause of electrolytic capacitor failure in products which I have seen when I used to do electronics service. One thing I like to do is to increase the temperature rating to the "next higher" temperature above what the original part was. Another parameter I look at is the "lifetime rating" of the part. Again, I like to choose the longer life time rating for parts if I am servicing items with defective capacitors.

Tolerance: This is a value you could also deviate on. It is acceptable practice to choose a better tolerance. The lower the number, the better to tolerance.

Digi-Key has LED Lighting components for the designs of residential lighting but does not carry the end product. You could check home improvement stores like Menards, Home Deport or Lowes for commercial lighting.

We do have muliplexers but we do not have anything that can handle that much power as they are built for signal applications. I do apologize.

I have also read the details you have provided regarding your application. Would it be possible to you use a DPST NC Relay? I have included a link to one that sounds like it may do the trick. I hope this helps!

Ever since cloud-based services like Salesforce and Google Docs began replacing their well-entrenched desktop counterparts, there has been much speculation as to when EDA software might also make the transition to the cloud.

A lot has been written on the prospects for increased collaboration, and the new business models that could follow suit, benefitting both users and developers of design tools. However, there has not been much progress in this space -- even in the domain of simple schematic tools.

According to Randall Restle, the director of design support services for Digi-Key, this is because EDA tool vendors have traditionally focused almost exclusively on integrating more engineering functionality into their products, veering increasingly into mechanical features such as 3D visualizations for clearances or thermal transfer, while ignoring the benefits of collaboration that could surround their tools. “It’s surprising they haven’t evolved to web-based means of development because they can,” said Restle.

Now Digi-Key, the electronic component distributor, has decided to venture into this space with Scheme-it, a free web-based schematic drawing and diagramming tool.

If trade shows are replaced by online channels like virtual conferences, social media, etc., how likely are you to register and participate knowing the material would be covered in less time and from the convenience of your home or office? Not to mention archived as a future resource. What would you expect from these types of events vs. what you would from a trade show or conference?
