Telaire®, based in Santa Barbara, was founded 13 years ago with the intent to develop low cost infrared gas sensing technology that could be used for everyday fire detection and ventilation control. At that time infrared gas sensors were typically selling for $5000 or more and required a trained technician to operate. Telaire's first infrared product, a CO2 sensor, was introduced for a price of $550 yet provided similar performance to high priced high-end sensors. Since then, Telaire® has become a world leader in low cost infrared sensing. Infrared gas spectrometers previously used only in high-end medical and scientific applications can now be applied to everyday tasks using Telaire® technology.
Telaire® is now applying its expertise in a variety of applications that include building control, combustion sensing, environmental monitoring, automotive, appliance white goods and fuel cells.
