TIPD135 PCB

Using the TPS40170 PWM Buck Controller, this power management reference design provides a regulated 5V to power 2 USB ports at 2.1A each (total 4.2A) in a small form-factor. The design has been optimized for a nominal 12V input and accepts 8-60V.

Analog PWM Generator 5V, 500kHz PWM Output

TIPD108

This Verified Design utilizes a triangle wave generator and comparator to generate a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) waveform with a duty cycle that is inversely proportional to the input voltage. An op amp and comparator generate a triangular waveform which is passed to one input of a comparator. By passing the input voltage to the other comparator input, a PWM waveform is produced. Negative feedback of the PWM waveform to an error amplifier is utilized to ensure high accuracy and linearity of the output. The OPA2365 op amp, TLV3502 comparator, and REF3325 reference were used to build this design.

10uA-100mA, 0.05% Error, High-Side Current Sensing Solution

TIPD135
This TI Precision Verified Design provides the theory, component selection, simulation, complete PCB schematic and layout, bill of materials, and measured performance of a split-supply, high-side four decade current sensing solution that can accurately detect load currents from 10uA-100mA. The corresponding linear output is from 10mV to 4.9V which enables measurement by common 5V ADCs. The design utilizes the PGA281, an instrumentation amplifier with pin-programmable gain and a wide common-mode voltage range, to provide a more accurate and versatile solution than traditional op amps.

Data Acquisition Optimized for Lowest Distortion, Lowest Noise, 18 bit, 1Msps Reference Design

TIPD115
This TI Verified Design is a high performance data acquisition system (DAQ) using an 18-bit SAR ADC, ADS8881 at a throughput of 1MSPS. This design has been optimized to provide the lowest noise & distortion solution for a full scale input sinewave of 10 KHz. This leads to a maximum possible value for Effective Number of Bits (ENOB) at a total power consumption of less than 50mW. The input driver for the ADC uses the fully-differential THS4521 for extremely low distortion, noise and high small signal bandwidth. The reference buffer drive utilizes a composite buffer made out of THS4281 & OPA333 to get the desired performance at lowest power consumption.

Bridge Sensor Signal Conditioner with Current Loop Output, EMC Protection

TIPD126
This bridge sensor conditioner module delivers a well-regulated current output to a ground-referenced load. The first stage uses a mixed-signal programmable gain amplifier (PGA) to provide linearization and temperature compensation to a differential bridge sensor voltage. The second stage converts the PGA output voltage into current and transmits the current over a standard 4mA to 20mA current loop. Additional circuitry protects the module against electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrical fast transients (EFT), radiated and conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI), and lightning surge.

Bipolar +/-10V Output from a Unipolar DAC for Industrial Voltage Drivers

TIPD125
This Verified Design is for conditioning a low-cost, unipolar, generic DAC into an accurate bipolar signal source using an op amp and 3 resistors. The circuit is designed with reactive load stability in mind and is compensated to drive nearly any conventional capacitive load associated with long cable lengths.

40V, Dual 1A Power Module Solution with Low Noise LDOs, Split-Rail (±5V) Output Voltages

PMP8372
The PMP8372 design is optimized for small size and uses the TPS84250 step-down power module on the top- side with the TPS84259 negative output power module on the bottom-side to implement both positive and negative output voltages from a 12V/24V source. The output voltages can be adjusted from +/-3V to +/-15V with resistor changes. The design is capable of 1-A outputs. The positive-input TPS7A4700 LDO and negative-input TPS7A3301 LDO are included for a low noise, high PSRR solution that is ideal for powering bipolar amplifiers, data converters, or other noise-sensitive analog circuitry.

Powering PLC I/O Module with LM5017 Flybuck

PMP7993
The LM5017 Flybuck reference design provides multiple isolated outputs to supply the bias voltage needed in a PLC I/O module. It generates 4 isolated outputs: ±15V@50mA and ±5V@100mA; it can cover most of the required voltage rails in the I/O module, such as the OP-AMP, DAC bias, RS-485 transmitter and digital isolator power supplies. In the Flybuck, the regulation is done on the primary side, and thus no opto-coupler is needed. The overall load/line regulation for each output is within +/-5%. The input voltage range is from 17V to 32V.

Power Management Reference Design for Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs (1.2V @ 1.5A)

PMP5098 is a multi-output power supply module that will provide all necessary voltage rails for high-speed Xilinx GTH (11.2 Gbps) serial transceivers on Virtex-6 HXT characterization boards. Four output rails: 1.1V @ 6W (AVCC), 1.1V @ 4W (AVCCRX), 1.2V @ 1.5W (AVTT) and 1.8V @ 5W (AVCCPLL). For each output TPS40400 and dual NexFET are used. TPS40400 has PMBus interface to allow output voltage to be adjusted and current output to be monitored along with other functions. TLC555 timer used to synchronize all outputs to about 480kHz.
