1 Watt DC/DC SMD Converters

R1SE Series drives down the Cost of 1 Watt DC/DC SMD Converters.

R1SE

The pricing has now been further reduced on the R1SE Series from RECOM, with 1 watt of power, 1000 VDC isolation, and 5 V input/output, is the first release in the new economical “E-class”. These converters are mainly used to provide isolation for the interfaces of bus systems. In these applications, operating temperatures of +85°C without de-rating are sufficient. It is unnecessary to use high-grade temperature components that de-rate down to +85°C.

The case, measuring only 12.75 x 10.7 x 6.7 mm and consisting of two parts, has been designed so that potting is not necessary - further reducing the material cost. Weighing only 1 gram, this lightweight component can be positioned quickly and precisely with automatic placement equipment. Despite not being potted, the 100% lead-free design enables it to withstand all thermal cycling in the vapor phase solder processes. The modules are UL60950 certified.

The RKE-0505/H series is an unregulated DC/DC converter series that has been designed to offer high quality despite its low cost; the series offers reasonable efficiency and still meets the full industrial operating temperature range of -40° to +85° C. The 1W converters of the RKE/H series in SIP7 housing offer high isolation of 3.75kVDC and 5V input/output. The converters of the E-series also have to pass the same rigorous quality tests as the standard series and offer UL certification.

R-78E switching regulator module now offers all the advantages of a switching regulator (high efficiency, wide input voltage range, accurate output voltage regulation) with a low cost for production quantities. The R-78E offers a risk-free, pre-tested solution that makes designing a switching regulator circuit redundant. The R-78E meets all of the most commonly requested specifications yet makes no compromise when it comes to quality and reliability.

The input voltage covers the 7 VDC to 28 VDC range, allowing operation from both an industrial 24 V bus or from either a 9 V or 12 V battery. The converter is fully protected against overload, short circuit, and over-temperature conditions. Due to the R-78E’s high efficiency of up to 92% at output voltages of 3.3 V/500 mA or 5 V/500 mA, no heat-sink is required for operation over the full industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (+70°C without derating). The compact SIP3 package, TO-220 compatible, measures only 11.6 x 8.5 x 10.4 mm saving precious board space. The R-78E is UL60950 certified

Open frame Surface Mount Modular Switching Regulator

The ROF-78E Series high-efficiency switching regulators are ideally suited to replace SMD linear regulators.

ROF-78E

The ROF-78E is a low profile, postage-stamp-sized SMD DC/DC power supply module designed to provide 5 V or 3.3 V at up to 0.5 A continuous load (0.95 A peak). It is also short circuit, overload and over-temperature protected. An enable connection is provided to allow sequential start-up and shutdown control. The modules small footprint of 12.5 mm x 13.5 mm and a height of only 4.5 mm will find many applications in low-profile PCBs, rack-mounted cards and restricted space designs. The high efficiency of up to 87% means that no heatsinks or forced cooling is required to meet the -40°C to +75°C ambient temperature range (no derating). Despite its low cost, the ROF-78E is subjected to the same rigorous RECOM quality checks as all other SMD products and features UL60950 certification.
