This presentation includes all steps necessary for getting started with the TMC429 motion controller design – including a minimum example of external circuitry required, Dimensioning, minimum BOM, Layout examples and discussion of a basic SPI vector for initialization. The TMC429 is a stepper motor controller for up to three axes with integrated micro step sequencer, motion ramp generator and automatic positioning control. The communication between micro-controller and TMC429 takes place via SPI. The TMC429 takes care of motion control real time tasks simplifying the software architecture. The TMC429 directly controls TRINAMIC stepper drives via SPI or STEP/DIR interface.
