Vishay Siliconix has developed a new way to shrink the size of a synchronous buck regulator while at the same time providing efficiencies as high as 93%. The microBUCK family gives you a cost-effective buck-converter solution by leveraging Vishay’s unique capability in discrete MOSFETs, power IC design, and packaging. The microBUCK combines an advanced controller IC with gate drivers, 2 PWM optimized N-Channel MOSFETs, and a bootstrap diode. Giving you all active components on a buck regulator in a single package that needs much less board space than discrete solutions, and less board space for power conversion, means you have more space for critical system functions. The microBUCK family uses the Vishay Siliconix TrenchFET technology, which enables lower on-resistance than other integrated solutions, better efficiency, cooler operation, and most efficient use of energy. It also cuts down on EMI by eliminating PCB traces, and enables operation switching frequencies up to 1 MHz. With microBUCK you do not need to compromise solution size for efficiency, you get the best of both.
