Panasonic offers a single-chip PSiP with greater than 94% efficiency for point-of-load designs

Image of Panasonic's NN3100xA SeriesPanasonic, a worldwide leader in semiconductor products, is pleased to introduce the NN3100xA Series Power Supply in Package (PSiP). Featuring a small 8.5 x 7.5 x 4.7mm QFN package, the NN3100xA series is a single-channel, synchronous DC-DC step-down regulator PSiP. As a single-chip solution, this series integrates a controller IC that employs a hysteretic control system, two power MOSFETs, an inductor and capacitors. With a very small footprint and the integration of external components, the NN3100xA series offers compact and simplified solutions for applications requiring point-of-load design. The number of external components have been reduced to only input/output capacitors, a slow start capacitor and feedback resistors. For applications requiring an output voltage of 1.0 V/3.3 V, the external feedback resistors can be eliminated, resulting in an even smaller footprint. The NN3100xA series achieves efficiencies of greater than 94% with low power consumption and low heat generation.
