Hammond Manufacturing has introduced a family of small enclosures: the 1554 flat lid and 1555 styled lid ranges of environmentally sealed enclosures. Available in both ABS for indoor use and polycarbonate for external applications, the units, which range in size from 2.6" x 2.6" x 1.6" (65 x 65 x 40 mm) to 9.4" x 6.3" x 3.5" (240 x 160 x 90 mm), are molded in light grey RAL 7035. These enclosures are designed to house printed circuit boards or DIN rail-mounted components, with the bases being fitted as standard with internal DIN rail mounting tabs and standoffs for mounting PCBs or panels. Manufactured in sixteen sizes and six different styles, the 96-strong range is designed to meet IP66. All lids feature a replaceable gasket tongue and groove seal; styled lids feature a recess suitable for mounting a keypad or label; and in addition to the flat and styled self-colored lids, the polycarbonate versions are also available with a transparent flat lid. To avoid any possible corrosion problems the inserts and self-captivating lid screws are both stainless steel, located outside the gasket. Additional holes in the base, again outside the gasket seal, are provided to allow the enclosure to be wall or shelf mounted. Optional steel panels, suitable for mounting heavy components, can be fitted to the integral mounting points in both the base and the lid and the bases also feature molded slots to enable 1.6 mm thick PCBs to be mounted vertically into the unit.
