Aluminum Capacitors
A device for storing a charge of electricity. These devices are basically composed of an aluminum foil coated with an insulating layer, a sheet of paper saturated with electrolyte, and another aluminum foil. These devices are most often polarized and will be damaged if connected incorrectly.
Film Capacitors
A device for storing a charge of electricity. The dielectric of these devices will be some form of a plastic film, a metalized film, or a combination of the two.
Electric Double Layer Capacitors, Supercaps
A device for storing a charge of electricity. These devices are designed to have energy storage capabilities that are much greater than normal capacitors.
Mica and PTFE Capacitors
A device for storing a charge of electricity. The dielectric of these devices will be some form mica or polytetrafluorethylene.
Thin Film Capacitors
A device for storing a charge of electricity. These devices are composed of thin film layers deposited on a substrate and separated by a dielectric.
